Electro-Harmonix 6L6GC matched quad
The 6L6GC was the first commercially available beam powertetrode under license developed by RCA in 1936 when the Marconi Valve Corporation qualified developing its own beam tetrode commercially as not feasible. The 6L6 was a great success for RCA and a year later Marconi came with her first beam tetrode the KT66.

Electro-Harmonix is a New York based company that has gained notoriety through guitar effect pedals. Started in 1968 by an audio technician and an ex-employee of IBM Mike Matthews, who is also a Rhytm & Blues pianist. In the nineties, Electro-Harmonix was taken over by the New Sensor company, which is also located in New York. New Sensor has its own tube plant in Saratov Russia where it has its tubes made under strict supervision from the EH USA. Now that Electro-Harmonix has 50 years of experience within the music world, we at TubeDirect are convinced we have chosen a reliable partner for the supply of new tubes.

Matched tubes
This set of tubes is matched. This means that the measured values of the tubes fall within the same range and thus perform equally.
This is important for two reasons:
1. To obtain the same gain factor per tube.
2. For the same amount of quiescent current per tube.
The first requirement speaks for itself and the second requirement prevents the one tube where a higher quiescent current or bias is needed to make it work in the linear region will also be worn out earlier. Both new tubes and our NOS tubes can be ordered separately.
